Video Language Policy

Language does matter.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4:29

As the writer and editor of this site, I take language very seriously. Language has the power to either create or destroy life.  The language you use will create the general atmosphere or ethos of your home.  It also creates the context of your thoughts and relationships.  Our thoughts tend to work themselves out in our mind through language.  Thus, the language you use will affect how you think about life.

If you structure your language (through the work of the Holy Spirit) to be a blessing to those around you, you will receive blessing back to your own life.  On the other hand, if you use crude and vulgar language - you are choosing the curse for both you and your family, and the curse will surely come back to you.

Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man soeth, that shall he also reap.  Galatian 6:7

Respectful optimistic language will sow blessing in your home and your family.  Crude language will sow the curse to you and your family.

I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life (the blessing) that you and your children may live.  Deuteonomy 30:19

Language can also reveal deep subconsious truths that are hidden from our consious mind.  A fascinating example of this is the "world system's" compulsive obsession with the "F" word.  There is simply no doubt that the use of this word, represents a massive cognitive dissonance (internal confusion and contradiction) regarding sexuality.  And, very likely a subconsious aggressive and degrading attitude toward women - even if a woman is saying it.

So I have a bit of a dilema.  YouTube and other video platforms are a tremendous educational tool. The videos are the modern day equivalent to the use of quotes and footnotes when analizing a subject - but even better.  In many cases, the reader of this site can actually see the person say something on video and therefore know exactly what was said and why.  However, crude and vulgar language is often used in many of these videos. This is a problem for a Christian website, especially in a time of history when vulgarity has been normalized and is everywhere including literature, music, movies, and internet.

With all these factors in mind, I have developed a policy regarding language used in videos that are linked to this site.  This policy is an attempt to balance the educational benefit verses the detrimental effect of crude and vulgar language.

Here is my policy at the present time.  I leave open the possibility that the Holy Spirit may change this policy in the future.

1.  I will not use a video with language that profanes the name of God or profanes the beauty of sexuality (the F word) - unless - I can legally edit out those words.

2.  Profane or crude lanquage which is not directed toward God or the sacredness of sexuality, I will evaluate on a case by case basis - seeking the balance between benefit (blessing) and cost (curse).

The review and analysis of videos is a tremendous way of showing the unique power of the Christian life compared to the philosophies of the world system. Therefore, I am going to try to walk a line using the videos to get across a point while at the same time trying not to contribute to the over all decline of the culture through the common use of destructive language.
